Chris Fleming is an American comedian, actor and YouTuber. He is known for his absurdist, satirical brand of comedy and a variety of characters, such as Gayle.

On June 6th, 2011, Chris Fleming published his first YouTube video "Putch Goosit." The post received more than 70,000 views (shown below).
The following year, on April 1st, 2012, Fleming posted the first episode of "Gayle," a multi-part web series, which ran for 41 episodes. The post received more than 2.7 million views in seven years (shown below, left).
On November 10th, 2015, Fleming posted his most popular video "Company Is Coming," which is a scene from "Gayle" and features the character. The post received more than 10 million views in four years (shown below, left).

On June 2nd, 2014, Fleming uploaded the "Gayle" episode 34 "Pillow for Your Teeth." The post received more than 277,000 views in five years (shown below).
Four years later, on March 5th, 2018, Tumblr [1] user beewatch posted a series of screenshots from the video's first scene. In the series, the character Gayle (portrayed by Fleming) reads a magazine. She then looks up and says, "Okay, was anybody going to tell me that a walrus can suck the skin off of a seal, or was I just supposed to read that in National Geographic myself?" The post received more than 200,000 notes in 14 months (shown below, left).
Later that year, Tumblr[2] user the-swift-tricker posted a version of the sequence with the text changed to read, "Was anybody going to tell me that this year was the 25th anniversary of The Nightmare Before Christmas, or was I supposed to read that on the Spirit of Halloween website myself." The post received more than 34,000 notes in less than one year (shown below, center).
On March 24th, 2019, Tumblr[3] user girlfriendluvr posted a variation that reads, "Was anybody going to tell me that cereal was invented to stop masturbation, or was I supposed to read that in a video about Sky High being eugenicist propaganda." The post received more than 123,000 notes in less than two months (shown below, right).
