J. Cole (real name Jermaine Lamarr Cole) is an American rapper and record producer known for his famous albums, 2014 Forest Hills Drive and 4 Your Eyez Only. Throughout the internet, Cole is regarded as one of the most influential rappers of his generation.

History

Music Career

In early 2007, Cole debuted his first mixtape called The Come Up. Two years later, after releasing his second mixtape The Warm Up, he was the first signed rapper to artist Jay-Z's label Roc Nation, which led to the release of his 2011 debut album Cole World: The Sideline Story, in which he gained recognition through the song Work Out.

On December 9th, 2014, J. Cole released his third studio album 2014 Forest Hills Drive, which was primarily composed and produced by the rapper himself with some support from several co-producers. Despite the lack of marketing or promotion for the album prior to its release, his album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and sold 371,000 copies within the first week; it also set a record for the most streamed album on Spotify with over 15.7 million streams in the first week, surpassing the previous record of 11.5 million streams set by One Direction.
