Jailson Mendes, better known as "Pai de Familia" ("Family Father"), is a Brazilian actor known because of a gay adult film that became the target of many internet memes.

His real name is João Mendonça, but he became known throughout Brazil by Jailson, his stage name. The nickname "Pai de Familia" came because he has some characteristics that are related to a father, such as being middle-aged, bald, wearing social clothes, etc.

During the years 2014 to 2016 his most famous film, "Ursos grandes, peludos e mansos" ("Big, Hairy, Tamed Bears") became the subject of several internet memes and spawned catchphrases such as "ai que delícia" ("oh how delicious") and "que gostoso" ("how tasty")

The meme became a hot topic again between June and July 2019, when Jailson died of a massive heart attack.

Family Father: How Jailson Became an Internet Meme

Among some other productions, Jailson Mendes participated in the movie "Big, Hairy, Tamed Bears," made by Ícaro Studios. Although the film was shot in 2005, it won the internet between 2014 to 2016, when memes of the "family father" began to appear, using scenes and phrases from the film.

In the film, Jailson Mendes acts against another middle-aged man. One of the opening scenes, in which he appears drinking an orange juice when his partner calls him, gave rise to many internet memes.

But we can say that a big part of the film's success on the net was due to Jailson's performance, who screamed and struggled during the act, letting out phrases like "oh how delicious", which became a great national slogan.

Other lines from the movie, such as "how tasty" and "I'm going to leave a hole in your ass", were also used in several Brazilian memes.

The repercussion of "family father" memes and his death

Despite being an adult film, with scenes and lines that border on the comical, Jailson Mendes never faced problems on the internet.

He even took advantage of the meme's success and created his own cooking channel on YouTube, called "ai que delícia". However, after a few months, the "family man" abandoned the project and deleted the channel.

After that, Jailson Mendes stayed away from the media, until a family member reported the actor's death on his social networks. The "family father" passed away on June 29, 2019, at the age of 48, after having a fulminant heart attack.

But despite this, Jailson will always be alive on the internet, in the hundreds of "family father" memes, which he faced with a great sense of humor himself.
