Maria José started to get popular on TikTok around April 2021, posting videos about her daily life in the countryside region of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Although her TikTok account got deleted, one of her earliest viral videos was posted by an ironic fake account based on her @maria_cururur6[1] on April 24th, 2021. The video (shown below) features the Brazilian saying good morning to her followers and amassing roughly 61,000 plays and 2,000 likes in two years.

The creator got prominently known for the fan interaction during her live-streams on Instagram and TikTok. For example, on November 13th, 2021, TikToker[2] @zombiebblud posted a clip from a live-stream of the Brazilian angrily blocking a fan that complimented her (shown below, left), which garnered over 3.6 million plays and 469,000 likes in two years. On November 18th, 2021, another fan interaction during a live-stream on TikTok went viral (shown below, right), posted by user @lucas_drawyn[3]. The video received over 419,000 plays and 41,000 likes in two years.

Maria José AI Parody Music
The ironic fandom Maria José acquired over the years began to produce AI-generated music using her voice. For instance, on February 26th, 2023, YouTube[4] user @bielelias69 posted a parody version of Dua Lipa's "Levitating" music (shown below, left), amassing over 28,000 views and 1,500 likes in seven months. On January 15th, 2023, YouTube[5] user @put4records uploaded a version of Britney Spears's "Toxic" being performed by Maria José (shown below, right), which garnered over 13,000 views and 638 likes in eight months.
