Nikolas Ferreira is a Brazilian politician member of the Partido Liberal (Liberal Party). His political views have been aligned with far-right politicians like Brazil's former President Jair Bolsonaro, defending conservatism. He uses his social media as a main channel to engage with his audience. Nikolas gained notoriety in 2021, when he posted a video saying he was prevented from visiting Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro for not presenting proof of vaccination against COVID-19.
History
Nikolas Ferreira's political career began in 2020, when he was elected as a city councilor[1] for the Belo Horizonte city in Minas Gerais, Brazil. In 2022, he was the most-voted federal Congressman in Brazil.[2]
Conservative Social Media Influencer
Prior to his political career, Nikolas had dedicated a lot of content on his social media to express his support for the Bolsonaro family.[3] For example, he shared photos[4] dating back to April 2018 alongside Eduardo Bolsonaro, son of Jair Bolsonaro.
Vai Chupetinha, Fala Nikole And Other Nicknames
On October 5th, 2022, the Brazilian YouTuber Felipe Neto recorded a video answering a post made by Nikolas Ferreira a day earlier criticizing the YouTuber's political views. Felipe calls Nikolas a "militia keychain," "fascism accessory" and "genocidal pacifier" in a video[5] that garnered 5.6 million views and 358,000 likes in six months (seen below).

On March 28th, 2023, the nickname resurfaced while Nikolas Ferreira was attending a Government Assembly, being called a "chupetinha" (little pacifier in English), by other congressmen. The video of the meeting went viral on social media, gaining millions of views. For example, Twitter[6] page @eixopolitico uploaded the moment, receiving 6.1 million plays and 10,400 retweets in a day (seen below).

Reputation
Nikolas Ferreira is known for his expressive positioning as a "right-wing Christian, gun enthusiast, and family defender," and is considered one of the most influential politicians on social media in Brazil in 2023.[7]
Criticisms
While Nikolas has been popular with his right-wing supporters, he is often involved in controversial actions or scandals. For instance, on March 8th, 2023, he wore a wig[8] during a speech on the tribune of the Chamber of Deputies, saying that he "felt like a transwoman" and, therefore, would have “a place to speak” for the International Women's Day tribune.

Nikolas was born on May 30th, 1996 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He holds a bachelor's degree in law, having graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC-MG). The politician has accumulated millions of followers on social media, with 7 million followers on Instagram[9] and 1.4 million followers on YouTube.[10]
