Super Sus, also known as Супер Сус, is a Ukrainian-born YouTuber who makes vlogs and videos in Russian in which he explores abandoned Soviet-era places like subways, cities and factories. He started posting content to YouTube in 2017 and has since become notable across platforms like TikTok, Twitter and 4chan. He became associated with phonk music on TikTok in 2022, specifically the song "Phonky Tribu."

Online History

Super Sus started posting content to YouTube in 2017. On April 11th, 2017, he posted his first video which was a vlog near a railroad track at night in which he was drunk and talking about his channel. Over the course of five years, the video received roughly 510,800 views and 24,000 likes (shown below, left). On June 26th, 2017, Super Sus posted a video that became his first viral hit, earning roughly 3.5 million views and 108,000 likes in five years (shown below, right). The video documented Sus journeying through abandoned service lines underground.

Super Sus grew a notable following continuing into 2018 and 2019, whereby in December 2019, Super Sus's channel had amassed roughly 483,000 subscribers according to the Internet Archive.[1] At the beginning of 2019, Super Sus was discussed on 4chan's /tg/[2] and /pol/ [3] boards, among others like /tv/.[4] On March 24th, 2019, Russian YouTuber NFKRZ uploaded a video about Super Sus, calling him the next Filthy Frank. Over the course of three years, the video received roughly 635,200 views and 31,000 likes (shown below).

Super Sus's most viewed video as of October 2022 was posted on December 6th, 2018, and earned over 6.6 million views and 244,000 likes in four years (shown below, left). The video is also Super Sus's only music video, being for his song "Pubertat." On July 7th, 2019, Super Sus uploaded his most viewed vlog as of October 2022, which was an expedition into the underground metro of Ukraine's capital Kiev. In three years, the video received roughly 3.3 million views and 97,000 likes (shown below, right).

Super Sus on TikTok

Although Super Sus does not have a TikTok account, in late 2022, other creators on the platform started reposting Super Sus' YouTube videos and setting them to the phonk song "Phonky Tribu." For instance, on October 3rd, 2022, the TikTok[5] channel supersustv reposted clips from Sus' Ukraine War vlog, gaining roughly 6.6 million plays and 892,600 likes in nine days (shown below, left). Also on October 3rd, 2022, TikToker[6] bald_n_bank (in reference to the Soviet YouTuber Bald and Bankrupt) posted a Super Sus meme with "Phonky Tribu" as the sound, gaining roughly 14.1 million plays and 1.1 million likes in nine days (shown below, right).
