Waka Flocka Flame (real name: Juaquin James Malphurs) is an American trap rapper who has developed a large online following for his music. He is also known for his presidential campaign.

History

Music Career

The Atlanta-based rapper originally released a few mixtapes while signed to the group 1017 Brick Squad[1] before the release of his most famous album Flockaveli. Waka Flocka came to mainstream fame with the release of the single "O Let's Get It" on December 25th 2009, which peaked at 62 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100[2]. The official remix of the song has over 3.5 million views. On October 5th 2010, the rapper released his debut album Flockaveli to generally favorable review, garnering a 75 aggregate on Metacritic[3]. He would go on to release other albums and several mixtapes.

Waka Flocka Flame Presidency Run

On November 7th 2012, the rapper announced that he would be running for the seat of President of the United States on Twitter in 2016.


On April 20th, 2015, the rapper confirmed the announcement by releasing his presidential campaign video[4], announcing his plans for what he would do as president.


However, due to the legally required age for U.S Presidency is 35 and him being 29 at the time of his campaign, he was unable to be a legal candidate. Then on October 20th 2015, he announced he was going to run for Speaker of The House on Funny Or Die[5].

Online Relevancy

Online, the rapper has a substantial following, having over 1.5 million followers on Twitter[6] and a Facebook page with over 10 million likes[7]. He also has popularity on 4chan's /mu/ board [8] and Tumblr [9], as well as several pins related to him on Pinterest[10] and over over 1800 Vines marked with "Waka Flocka Flame" on Vine[11]. There are 100 results for "Waka Flocka Flame" on DeviantArt[12]. A Youtube account has been made for the rapper with a follow count of over 340 000 as of January 22nd 2016[13].

Dicksquad / D I C K S Q U A D

Dicksquad / D I C K S Q U A D is a reference to a post made on one of Waka Flocka Flames' videos. The rapper read the post on an episode of "The People Vs.", a show created by Noisey[14]. Online, the post has been used as a copypasta and for shitposting.
