Petra Parker or Spider-Woman, sometimes known as Spinstress, is an alternate-universe, gender swapped female version of Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man. She is often depicted online as being a transgender version of Peter Parker, although this is not canon to her established character.

Petra is arguably most known for her Ultimate Spider-Man appearance, in which she is from Earth-TRN454, a gender-swapped version of Earth-TRN123, the main universe in the Ultimate Spider-Man franchise. In this franchise, she appears with short brown hair.

Another version of Petra Parker also exists in the Spider-Verse franchise. In this franchise, she is the daughter of Queen Mysteria, a gender swapped version of Mysterio, and is known as the superhero Spinstress.

In mid-August 2026, fan art of Petra Parker, typically based on her Ultimate Spider-Man design, experienced a surge in popularity on the /r/Spiderman subreddit and X / Twitter. Much of this fan art claims that she is transitioning and only references the design of Ultimate Spider-Man Petra Parker, but none of the established canon.

Origin

Petra Parker is an established character in the Marvel Spider-Man franchise. She appears in Ultimate Spider-Man as a female version of Peter Parker in the gender swapped universe Earth-TRN454, where she is depicted with short brown hair and goes by the alias Spider-Girl. She appears in the Spider-Verse franchise as the daughter of Queen Mysteria and is known as the Spinstress.^[1][2]

Transgender Petra Parker

In August 2026, a fan art trend went viral on Reddit and X in which Petra Parker is depicted as Peter Parker during and post-transition. The design of trans Petra Parker closely resembles her Ultimate Spider-Man design. The trend began after, on August 8th, 2026, X^[3] user @Zappyz_ posted tweets reading, "Closeted transfem spider-man, call her spider-moder," followed by, "Imagine J. Jonah Jameson trying really hard to make a headline that doesn't sound transphobic after 'Spider-Man' looks like they've been on estrogen for 6 months," gaining over 35,000 likes in nine days.

On August 10th, X^[4] user @0trebot posted a comic depicting this scenario, garnering over 134,000 likes and 15,000 reposts in a week. The end of the comic features Petra Parker as post-transition Spider-Girl.

The fan art trend continued throughout mid-August 2026 on X and the /r/Spiderman subreddit.

On August 12th, 2026, X^[5] user @arzergex posted a piece of fan art of Jameson accidentally misgendering Spider-Woman, garnering over 136,000 likes in five days. It was reposted to /r/Spiderman^[6] that day, gaining over 14,000 upvotes in the same span of time.

On August 14th, X^[7] user @diaverik posted a piece of fan art that shows Petra Parker racing off to become Spider-Woman, garnering over 6,700 likes in three days.

On August 16th, X^[8] user @M4rsArt posted artwork that depicts Petra Parker as she would appear in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, garnering over 6,000 likes in a day. It was reposted to the /r/Spiderman^[9] subreddit on August 17th to over 2,200 upvotes in under a day.
