About

Polar is a Metaverse virtual pop star and singer that debuted in 2021 by creators TheSoul Publishing, often seen as the Hatsune Miku of Avakin Life, a virtual game that is similar to Second Life. The Metaverse pop artist became a viral sensation in 2022 thanks to her TikTok account where she posts clips of her performing various dance trends and her own original music videos, sharing similarities to other VTubers.

Origin

Polar was created as a business venture by the social media team TheSoul Publishing from the onset of her social media profiles in 2021. The first TikTok posted to Polar's official page on September 21st, 2021, was a promotional short teaser for her first single, "Close to You," which was stated as coming out on a later date. The commentary for the TikTok,[1] which went on to receive 85,000 views in one year (shown below), pointed fans to the official YouTube channel that was made on August 16th, 2021, posting its first video on September 21st alongside the TikTok teaser.[5]

On October 5th, 2021, the official music video for the song "Close to You" by Polar[2] premiered on her YouTube channel, rapidly becoming a viral hit with over 7.4 million views after 10 months, while also showing a mix of the Metaverse and human interaction while trying to humanize Polar (shown below).

Spread

Polar's TikTok page continued to grow with dance videos and seasonal challenges being performed by the virtual avatar into 2022, with the high engagement TikToks making their way over to the YouTube channel that began to take on the characteristic of a highlight channel that uploaded the occasional music video for a Polar song release. One such example is shown in the video titled "TikTok Dance Compilation by Polar" that was uploaded on May 25th, 2022 (shown below),[3] which went on to receive 2.2 million views in two months (10 times the amount as any other non-Shorts video uploaded to the channel since "Close to You").

On July 21st, 2022, the virtual-reality game Avakin Life launched an in-game space where Polar performed a live show with virtual audience members. The concert was recorded and later uploaded to YouTube by the channel Avakin Squad[4] on July 21st, 2022 (shown below).

Alright. Honestly I'm not against this idea.

I saw her design and in all honesty I wanted to like it, I feel like the hair style could be more unique, but knowing thie medium she will be changing it all the time so it becomes irrelevant.(in a bad way)

I do like the facemask always "on" design. Although for what I have seen it doesn't look like it reacts to what she says or even the music(at quick glance, you might correct me if I'm wrong) which takes away the charm of the design.

And then they give her those big oretty eyes that should allow her to show strong emotions on their own(especially since they can't show her mouth) yet from watching that main video on this entry I could barely tell if she was even moving her eyes at times. She ends up looking as alive as a barbie doll.

in a nutshell I hate how badly this is all executed.
