The meme "Psychic Friend Fredbear" refers to a gag first created by the youtuber Matthew Patterson in one of his videos in a long running series on theories about the popular video game Five Nights At Freddys more commonly known as FNAF.

The game involves a child protagonist warding off killer animatronics, and inbetween games you get to watch little cutscenes that reveal important lore.

It first appeared when Matthew, Known as MatPat did a small gag in the middle of his FNAF 4 theory. The gag involved a small plush golden "fredbear" from the game appearing on screen and darting around to a musical number of the channels own creation. The lyrics were simple and reflected the Fredbears uncanny ability to know exactly what the crying child is thinking, who was also featured in the same cutscene Fredbear was. The darting may refer to the characters ability to teleport and be seemingly in all places at once. The lyrics went like this:

"He's Here He's There He's Everywhere, Who ya gonna call? Psychic Friend Fredbear."
-Filmed before a live studio audience.

The meme took off with only a few days later a youtuber known as TheNoseBros releasing a small clip of the gag which reached 215,113 views. After that it began appearing more and more often. Many memes were created after that featuring the Fredbear floating in a void with lines of text around it. And on 21 Sep 2015 a user known as sonicyay2 designed a 4 part "reality" tv show featuring the Fredbear and the child in all manner of situations, some from the game and some not. The first part reached 143,523 views and the parts after that hid mid 60,000 in terms of views.

The meme has appeared in other places online including a Gacha Life parody of the video, and several reddit threads being made about the character. Eventually MatPat released a updated version with more lyrics this time, along with a new theory.

"He’s your buddy, when your brother is a jerk!

He’s your pal, when your dad is off at work!

He won’t leave you, when you go get a bite!

At least until the sixth night.

He's here, he’s there, he’s everywhere!

Who you gonna call?

Psychic Friend FredBear!

He’s a flower, for reasons still unknown!

And he stalks you, on your way back home.

He makes a promise, that throws off all the lore!

Seriously Scott, what is this line for?

(spoken) And is it supposed to be in a slightly different yellow font here? Are you meaning this to be figurative or literal?

Because if it’s literal, you’re opening up a literal can of worms!

He's here, he’s there, he’s everywhere!

Who you gonna call?

Psychic Friend FredBear!

He's here, he’s there, he’s everywhere!

Who you gonna call?
Psychic Friend Fredbear! *winks*"

The interest has spread to sites such as pinterest and discord with entire discord servers being dedicated to the meme and tons of "Psychic Friend Fredbear" images on the before mentioned site.
