#QuarantineAMovie is a hashtag started by Jimmy Fallon which encourages people to alter film titles such that they become about social distancing during the Coronavirus outbreak.
Origin
On March 31st, 2020, The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon tweeted,[1] "It's time for Tonight Show: At Home Edition Hashtags! Change the title of a movie to make it fit with quarantining, and tag it with #QuarantineAMovie. Could be on the show!", gaining over 500 retweets and 3,000 likes (shown below).
Spread
The tweet quickly led hundreds to join in the hashtag, as people altered film titles to fit social distancing practices. Some popular examples include a tweet by @toriloomis9,[2] who wrote "Fat and Furious," and gained over 100 retweets and 1,500 likes (shown below, left). The @WatchMojo[3] account tweeted "A Star Is Bored," gaining over 100 retweets and 1,000 likes (shown below, right). The jokes were covered in a Twitter Events page.[4]
