Part of a series on Jimmy Fallon. [View Related Entries]

About

#SharpieChallenge is a challenge started by Jimmy Fallon in which a person needs to hit a sharpie marker in the air, remove the cap, and draw a mustache on their face in one fluid motion.

Origin

On November 15th, Jimmy Fallon announced what he'd dubbed the #SharpieChallenge, challenging viewers to record themselves hitting a sharpie in the air and drawing a mustache on their upper lip, in honor of "Movember," an annual tradition of using November to promote men's health issues (shown below).

Spread

In the following several days, several social media users recorded themselves attempting the challenge. For example, staff members of Sharpie posted a video of themselves doing the challenge on Twitter (shown below, top). It was also popular among Twitter and TikTok users.

On November 20th, Fallon ran a segment compiling some of the best examples of the challenge, which led to coverage from Daily Dot.[1]
