Queen of Spades Tattoo refers to a tattoo depicting the Spades card suit with the letter Q inside of it or near it. In niche circles, particularly within the cuckold and sissyfication communities, the tattoo has been used to signal that its wearer has a sexual preference for Black males. Awareness of this particular meaning of tattoo was boosted after it gained recognition among users of the Soyjak.party imageboard, who spread multiple Soyjak memes depicting the symbol in 2022 and the following years. Starting in late 2023, the tattoo achieved further recognition online following posts about it on TikTok, X / Twitter and other platforms, resulting in Spade Suit Emoji being used for similar purposes online. The tattoo and the use of the phrase "Queen of Spades" have sometimes been criticized as symbolic of the fetishization of Black men.

Origin

On February 25th, 2006, Urban Dictionary^[1] user Judy D. added a definition for Queen of Spades, writing that the card symbol has been adopted by white women displaying it as a tattoo or on their clothing to signal a sexual preference for Black men. The definition (shown below) received over 1,800 likes and 810 dislikes in 18 years.

Spread

Prior to the 2020s, the symbolism of the Queen of Spades symbol saw little recognition online beyond niche communities. On February 7th, 2013, NeoGAF^[2] user Kinitari made a thread discussing the meaning behind the Queen of Spades tattoo, with the thread garnering over 160 replies in three years (screenshot shown below, left).

In 2019 and the early 2020s, an information card about the meaning of the Queen of Spades tattoo was circulated online,^[3] including multiple posts on 4chan^[4][5] (shown below, right).

In March 2022, an anonymous Soyjak.party imageboard user posted a Cobson Soyjak variant with a Queen of Spades tattoo having intercourse with a Black man (shown below). On March 31st, 2022, the image was archived on SoyBooru.^[6]

The image achieved virality on Soyjak.party and was followed by an influx of Soyjak images centered around the symbol, which were spread on the imageboard and outside of it. As of April 17th, 2024, over 1,280 images tagged "queen_of_spades" were uploaded to SoyBooru (examples shown below). In many examples, the phrase "slut for BBC" was edited onto the spade symbol.

Following a period of popularity on Soyjak.party, the meme achieved further spread outside of the imageboard, with multiple posts about the symbol appearing on TikTok, X / Twitter and other platforms in late 2023 and 2024. Notably, the Spade Suit ♠ Emoji saw popularization as a way of referencing the sexual preference.
