¿Quieres Pene? (which translates to "Want dick?" or "Want cock?") refers to a series of troll image macros featuring Michelangelo from the series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, used as a response after tricking a chat user into believing the original chatter had an inquiry or question, with the latter responding with the image or the phrase “¿Quieres pene?” (shown below, left and center). Further iterations of this meme take the form ¿Quieres X?, often referencing running gags about country-specific slang or dubbing (example shown below, right).

Origin

Although the meme features Michelangelo Open-Mouthed Stare, the exact origin of this iteration remains unknown as of the writing of this entry; however, it's mostly attributed to the Facebook community Seguidores De La Grasa (SDLG) somewhen in 2015, as documented by a post about trending Spanish memes by Taringa! user Rocket-monster on June 16th, 2015,^[1] and the SDLG entry on the Wikia site Memespedia.^[2] According to Google Trends, queries for “quieres pene” started escalating in early June of 2015.^[3]

Spread

On June 14th, 2015, YouTuber TheDracerGx^[4] uploaded a video repeating the catchphrase with overwhelming saliva noises (shown below, left) reaching over 91,000 views in less than six years. On the next week, on June 25th, he posted an ironic creepypasta narration^[5] about the meme (shown below, right) and gathered over 61,000 views in the same time period.

On June 18th, YouTube user Sr. Divino^[6] posted a parody dub of a scene from the 90s live action film, in which Donatello is trolled by Michelangelo using the phrase (shown below). The video has gained over 180,000 views (as of October 2020).

On August 18th, the official Facebook page Pepsi Chile shared a photoshopped version of the meme with a can of Pepsi and the phrase “¿Quieres Pepsi?” (which translates to "Want Pepsi?") (shown below).^[7] The image has been shared over 40,000 times, and gathered over 38,000 reactions and 8,400 comments as of October 2020.

Reply Image Macros

An additional series of image macros feature other characters or scenes from the movies and take the form of a reply to the main question “¿Quieres pene?” (examples shown below), such as “Sí, quiero” (which translates to "Yes, I want") and “Tal vez, pero más tarde” (which translates to "Maybe, but later").
