Ralph In Danger or I'm In Danger refers to a catchphrase and image of the character Ralph Wiggum from The Simpsons sitting on a bus with the caption, "(chuckles) I'm in danger." The screenshot developed into a reaction image meme in the late 2010s, often paired with captions describing situations in which one might see themselves in danger.

Origin

The scene from which the screenshot comes is "The Simpsons Guy," a Family Guy episode in which the cast visits Springfield and enters The Simpsons universe. The episode aired on September 28th, 2014^[1] (scene shown below).

Spread

The image began becoming a reaction image in March of 2018. On March 29th, Redditor FlimFlambadam^[2] uploaded an image to /r/me_irl which gained over 4,800 upvotes (shown below).

Several hours later, HeDuXe uploaded a post to /r/memes which slightly altered the text of the me_irl post, gaining over 290 upvotes (shown below, left). The same day, a template for the format was posted to /r/MemeEconomy (shown below, right).

Over the following day, the template spread to /r/dankmemes, where several posts appeared. For example, a post referencing Normies gained over 3,300 upvotes (shown below, left). Another popular post about being high gained over 470 upvotes (shown below, right).
