Rhianna Body Lava Parodies refers to a series of videos recreating a clip of recording artist Rihanna applying Fenty Body Lava make up for humorous effect.

Origin

On March 26th, 2018, the Fenty Beauty Twitter [1] and Instagram [2] accounts published a video of Rihanna applying the Fenty Body Lava makeup to her shoulder and looking at the camera. The posts (shown below) received more than 34,000 retweets and 109,000 likes in Twitter and 2.3 million views and 460,000 likes in three weeks.




Spread

Within days of the post, variations of the video began appearing on Twitter. On March 27th, Twitter[3] user @indigosuave_ posted a version where a man applies a cream to his shoulder and begins spreading it with a dust broom. The post (shown below, left) received more than 39,000 retweets and 72,000 likes in three weeks.

The follow day, Twitter[4] user @silvarado posted a video of a person spreading a cream with a brook, too. The post (shown below, right) received more than 440 retweets and 1,800 likes in less than three weeks.

On March 28th, Twitter[5] user @BigMeechDemetre tweeted a video of a man performing the motion with the caption "#RihannaChallenge." The post (shown below) received more than 11,000 retweets and 22,000 likes in three weeks.

On April 15th, Twitter[6] published a Moments page regarding the videos.

Several media outlets covered the popularity of the videos, including Cosmopolitan,[7] HuffPost,[8] Mashable, [9] Nylon[10] and more.
