Robbie Rotten Sells Himself Ice Cream, also known as "Nothing. It's For Free!" is an exploitable scene from the LazyTown episode "The First Day of Summer." The scene has received several fan edits, replacing Rotten and the ice cream with various characters.

Origin

The scene is from the LazyTown episode "The First Day of Summer," which first aired on September 26th, 2013.[1] In the episode (shown below, left), Robbie Rotten finds himself alone in LazyTown after everyone else has headed off to the beach. In their absence, he decides to go to the local ice cream stand and make himself a towering cone of ice cream while also impersonating an ice cream seller. As the ice cream seller, he gives himself the cone and as Robbie he asks the seller "What do I owe you?", and as the ice cream seller he replies "Nothing. It's for free!". The scene (shown below, right) was first posted to YouTube by Matt Smoo on August 30th, 2016, and has received over 985,000 views in over six years.[2]

On September 25th, 2016, YouTube user Sp0rtafr00p posted an edit that replaces Robbie and the ice cream seller with the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, and the ice cream with a non-aggression pact.[3] The video (shown below) received over 71,000 views in over six years.



On September 27th, 2016, YouTube user RandenSpooky (архив) posted an edit of the video which edits Robbie and the ice cream seller's hair to that of Vinegar Doppio and Diavolo from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. [4] The video (shown below, left) received over 104,000 views in over six years. On November 17th, 2016, YouTube user oatmeal posted an edit of the video which replaces the ice cream cone with Windows 10, and the ice cream seller with Microsoft.[5] The video (shown below, right) received over 100,000 views in over six months.



On January 15th, 2017, YouTube user Williz posted an edit of the clip which plays the USSR Anthem along with Soviet propaganda after the ice cream seller says "Nothing. It's for free!".[6] The video (shown below, left) received over 3.8 million views in over six years. Jacksepticeye covered Williz's video in a YouTube video titled "JUST TRY NOT TO LAUGH | Jacksepticeye's Funniest Home Videos" on April 16th, 2018.[7] A clip from the video (shown below, right) was uploaded to YouTube by Spedicey on September 7th, 2022, where it received over 125,000 views in over five months.[8]
