Sam Hyde's "Dear Elon" Video refers to a long-form video posted by controversial internet figure Sam Hyde, best known for his past work on Adult Swim's Million Dollar Extreme, for being the subject of a number of shooter hoaxes and for creating the reality show Fishtank. In late December 2024, Sam Hyde posted a video directed at Elon Musk after the tech billionaire incited controversy for his stance on H-1B Visas. In the video, Hyde name-dropped notable streamers like Asmongold, leading to him and others like Destiny to post their reactions to the video as it garnered virality online heading into early January 2025.

On December 30th, 2024, Sam Hyde posted a 40-minute long video to his Twitter[1] / X account @wigger with the caption, "Dear Elon."

The video shows Hyde addressing Elon Musk's statements regarding his support for the H-1B visa and touches on Hyde's disagreement with Indian immigration specifically. Hyde extends his arguments to Chinese and Hispanic immigration as well, asserting that "Humans are not interchangeable economic units," and urging Elon Musk to backtrack on his statements and take a more critical view on immigration.

For example, some X users criticized Hyde, describing him as an "HGH [human growth hormone] addict" prone to preying on "barely legal" women in the Rhode Island Providence area. However several Twitter / X users also reacted positively to Sam Hyde's video, with some describing the video as well-made, well-argued and compelling.

For instance, on December 31st, 2024, X[2] user and conservative commentator @AuronMacintyre described Hyde's video as, "More clear eyed and insightful than 95% of the conservative commentariat," gathering over 20,000 likes in two days.

Some internet users also noted that Hyde may have purposefully baited Asmongold into reacting to his video by name-dropping him numerous times and effectively projecting his video to Asmongold's larger audience. On January 1st, 2025, X[5] user @lordvictor made a post joking about Hyde's "150 IQ," and commending him for getting "talked about by (relative) normies."


On January 1st, 2025, streamer Destiny posted a YouTube[6] video reacting to Sam Hyde as well, gathering over 100,000 views in two days.
