Shabang: The Musical or simply Drake: The Musical, also known as the Shabang Trend, refers to an AI-generated song parodying rapper Drake's song "Shabang," particularly the "Maneesh On the Beat Shabang" section, in the style of a Disney musical number.

After appearing in late July 2026, the song went viral on TikTok in August that year after users across the platform began posting "audition tapes" for the fictional musical, among other content furthering the joke.

Origin

On July 21st, 2026, TikTok^[1] user @kingwillonius posted an AI-generated song of a Broadway musical-style rendition of "Shabang" by Drake. The video received about 346,500 views, 34,400 likes and 1,000 comments in less than one month.

The video went on to spawn further posts and memes imagining Drake and his song "Shabang" as a musical production as it spread online.

On July 24th, 2026, TikTok^[2] user @ikeslimster posted a video jokingly frolicking around to the song, which received over 1.4 million views and 250,800 likes in less than a month.

As the song spread, TikTok users began posting their own "audition tapes" for the fictional musical, primarily in the form of competently performed covers showcasing their musical talent, usually far exceeding what is needed for the source material.

On August 4th, 2026, TikTok^[2] user @jahir.hipps posted a cover of the song with the caption "Shabang: The Musical." The video received over 1.6 million views and 335,600 likes in about nine days.

The same day, TikTok ^[3] user @calderjamesmusic posted his rendition of the song, calling it his audition for "Drake: The Musical." The video received over 4.9 million views and 1.1 million likes in a similar timeframe.
