She-Hulk Clapping is a scene from the 2022 Marvel superhero series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in which the character Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk (played by Tatiana Maslany) claps forcefully, emitting thunderous booms. In late August 2022, the scene gained virality as an exploitable meme format as users paired it with the 21st Century Humor sound effects such as the Taco Bell Bong and the Vine Boom.

Origin

On August 18th, 2022, episode one, titled "A Normal Amount of Rage," of season one of the Marvel superhero series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premiered on Disney+] In the episode, newly made superhero and protagonist Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk opposes her cousin Bruce Banner / Hulk by clapping her hands with enough force to produce deafening booms (scene shown below).

On the same day the first episode aired, Twitter[2] user @mari_bee posted the earliest found meme based on the clip, captioning it, "white people when the plane lands." The tweet received over 8,600 views, 70 retweets and 640 likes in two weeks (shown below).

Spread

The video did not see further use in memes until August 27th, 2022, when Twitter[3] user @CrystalForce_ posted a sped-up version of the GIF, originally posted on an unidentified Discord server,[4] commenting, "been laughing for 5 minutes at this fucking gif." The post received over 14,100 retweets and 118,200 likes in two days (shown below).

Later that day, Twitter[5] user @homosexyegg then posted a meme pairing the GIF with the Vine Boom sound effect, with the edit gaining over 87,600 views, 1,700 retweets and 12,000 likes in two days (shown below).

In the following days, more similar edits, many of them combining the clip with the 21st Century Humor sound effects and other soundbites, were posted to Twitter.
