About

The So Wake Me Up Dog, also known as the Wake Me Up Dog, is a little, white, singing dog on TikTok that sings Avicii's "Wake Me Up" (specifically the lyrics "So wake me up when it's all over. When I'm wiser and I'm older") due to a Revive App filter being used on a still photograph. After the video was uploaded in late 2022 by TikToker peanut_2323, TikTokers like Noah Glenn Carter started the "Wake Me Up Dog Cult" comprised of a TikTok cult of users with the "wake me up dog" wearing a Santa hat as their profile picture. The singing dog was inserted into many CapCut templates and also became associated with the Only in Ohio trend.

Origin

On October 17th, 2022, TikToker[1] peanut_2323 posted a video that showed a still photograph of her dog singing Avicii's song "Wake Me Up." TikToker peanut_2323 used the app Revive to make the still photograph sing the song, making it appear that her dog was mouthing it. Over the course of one month, the video received roughly 7.1 million plays and 1.6 million likes (shown below).
