Sonic Boom is an 2014 CGI-animated children's television series that it was an spin-off the video game series Sonic the Hedgehog with the protagonist's Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knuckles to stop Doctor Eggman by his evil plans,^[1] later an video games is been released on 2014 titled Rise of Lyric on the Nintendo Wii U^[2] and Shattered Crystal on the 3DS^[3].

The Sonic Boom games have been trashed by critics since the first day, with Rise of Lyric being considered one of the worst Sonic games of all times, with a score lower than Sonic The Hedgehog (2006) ^{[5] [6]}. Some even consider it one of the worst games of this decade ^[8]. Shattered Crystals was considered just as bad by many, or just mediocre for other users. ^[7]
The treatment of Knuckles The Equidna and Shadow The hedgehog has been a main criticisms between fans since the videogames were released.
The Tv show, however, managed to gain a fanbase withing the Sonic fandom, which is pretty conflicted with the sub-franchise.
Sonic Dissected, a webseries that focuses on the Sonic franchise problems, said that Boom is the equivalent of old age, and after that, Sonic shall die. ^[9]
