Stephen Miller's Spray-on Hair refers to a series of jokes regarding the color and styling of Senior Advisor to President Donald Trump Stephen Miller's hair. Many noted that compared Miller's previous on-camera appearances, Miller had more hair in places on his head where he was once balding.

Origin

On December 16th, 2018, Stephen Miller appeared on political interview television show Face the Nation to discuss a potential government shutdown over Donald Trump's border wall at the Mexico-U.S. border (shown below).



Spread

During the broadcast, users on Twitter began joking about Miller's hairstyle, which they believe was achieved via spray-on hair. Twitter[1] user @futuropolist tweeted, "#facethenation Stephen Miller sporting the worst case of spray-on hair I have ever seen. The glory and horror of HDTV." The tweet received more than 6,200 retweets and 30,000 likes in 24 hours (shown below, left). Twitter[2] user @JustSchmeltzer tweeted a series of angles and pictures of Miller's hair, making the case for the theory about Miller. The post received more than 315 retweets and 860 likes in 24 hours (shown below, center). Twitter[3] user @skolanach tweeted a side-by-side photograph of Miller before the Face the Nation appearance and in the interview. The post received more than 4,100 retweets and 17,000 likes in 24 hours (shown below, right).

That day, Redditor [4] posted the @futuropolist tweet in the /r/beholdthemasterrace subreddit. Within 24 hours, the post received more than 2,800 points (98% upvoted) and 95 comments.

Several media outlets covered the reaction, including Uproxx,[5] Newsweek,[6] Mashable, [7] The Root[8] and more.

The following day, New York Times White House correspondent Katie Rogers tweeted, "Stephen Miller came to work with regular hair today." The tweet[9] received more than 570 retweets and 4,500 likes in 24 hours (shown below).
