Stereo Love is a popular dance song by Edward Maya and Vika Jugliana. The song became a global hit and has been used in numerous remix videos on YouTube and Instagram.

Origin

The song's music video was uploaded to YouTube on August 31st, 2009, gaining over 770 million views (shown below). The song was officially released by on October 19th, 2009.[1]



Spread

Remix videos using the track date back to 2010. One of the earliest remixes was posted by Raul Ruiz on July 19th, 2010, and featured the Teletubbies (shown below, left). An animation posted by YouTuber Paulo Nascimento on October 19th of that year gained over 282,000 views (shown below, right).



Remixes started seeing more popularity in 2018 and early 2019. On July 18th, 2018, YouTuber Sasuke Emo Vengador posted a Shrek remix with the song, gaining over 5,000 views (shown below, left). It also saw a lot of use in animation memes in the latter half of 2018. For example, user Darkie posted a My Little Pony animation on November 3rd, 2018, gaining over 4,000 views (shown below, right).



Stereo Love "Nigga" Edits

The song began seeing use in more shitpost memes on Instagram in March 2019. On March 19th, 2019, Instagram user computerpwn posted an edited scene from 2007 animated film Meet the Robinsons.[2] In the edit, a still image of character Goob looking at his friend Lewis in a disappointed manner was accompanied by caption "Nigga" and song Stereo Love. The edit gained over 19,000 views and 3,000 likes in two weeks and was reposted by several popular Instagram meme pages.[3]

In the following days, multiple users posted similar edits using the song. For example, on March 24th, 2019, Instagram user bepiz.man submitted a variation of the meme using a scene from 2007 animated film Ratatouillie. The post gained over 810,000 views and 77,000 likes in ten days.

Oh gosh that's right this song came out when I was still in my early years at college. Suddenly remembering that this, "Poker Face," and shit even "Tik Tok" (the song by Kesha) of all things are now over a decade old suddenly makes me, a person in their late 20s, feel like I'm in my 50s.
