365 Days or 365 Dni is a 2020 Polish erotic-romance film based on a novel by Blanka Lipińska. In the film, an Italian mafia boss kidnaps a polish woman and gives her 365 days to fall in love with him. The movie was released to Netflix in June 2020 and garnered criticism for romanticizing Stockholm syndrome. Critics compared the film to 50 Shades of Grey and many gave it a poor rating. Memers on TikTok and Twitter often referenced and mocked the line "Are you lost, baby girl" which was repeatedly used in the film.

History

On January 23rdn 2020, the YouTube account Kino Helios Polska released the official 365 Dni trailer which received over 11.7 million views and 46,000 likes in five months. (shown below).

On February 7th, 2020, the film was released in Poland and grossed over 8.9 million dollars in four months.[1] The movie was then released to Netflix in June 2020 and became the number one trending Netflix movie in the U.S for a week.[2]

Reception

Critics gave the film a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes.[3] An Independent[4] article said,"The erotic film quickly draws parallels with the Fifty Shades of Grey series, but some viewers have accused the drama of 'romanticizing' kidnapping in showing a victim falling in love with her captor." On June 2nd, 2020, Twitter user @banana_chipzz[5] tweeted, "so which 12 y/o, wattpad, stockholm-syndrome repackaged as a love story, borderline abuse fest did they rip this idea from?#365dni" (shown below, left). The tweet received over 230 likes in a month. On June 23rd, Twitter user @rushmorerainbow[6] gave the move a three out of 10 saying, "where do I begin, this is the most basic storyline ever, I felt like it was just made for the sex scene, the lines are horrible,the plot is predictable, altho I must say the cinematography is stunning, soundtrack are good but doesn't match the scene mostly" (shown below, right). The tweet gained over 60 likes in two days.

Are You Lost, Baby Girl?

Many TikTokers and Twitter users mocked or referenced Mossimo's common line "Are you lost, baby girl?" in June 2020. On June 8th, TikToker reesepittmann posted a video which when she plays a Laura character reacting to Mossimo's line (shown below, left). The video gained over 389,200 likes in 17 days. On June 16th, TikToker paulinat uploaded a video mocking the movie which accumulated over 487,600 likes in 12 days (shown below, right).

On June 14th, Twitter user @girIatmidnight[11] added the line to an image from Twilight saying, "i added the quote and it fits perfectly, lol #365daysnetflix" (shown below, left). The tweet acquired over 130 likes in 11 days. On June 20th, Twitter user @vaibhav_gilbile[12] added the line as a caption to images from Dora the Explorer (shown below, right). The tweet gained over 220 likes in five days.
