American Song Contest is a musical-competition TV show that airs on NBC and is seen as the American version of Eurovision, with 56 original songs sang by residents of the 56 states and territories that comprise the U.S. The contest itself, which premiered on March 21st, 2022, is hosted by rapper Snoop Dogg and singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson, with some professional singers mixed in with solo and group acts.

History

One of the first commercials for the program came as part of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics marketing campaign. On December 15th, 2021, the YouTube channel Duarte C7^[1] posted the commercial, gaining 35,000 views in three months and explaining the premise of the show (shown below).

Online Presence

Due to each of the musical acts being known within their relative circles, it wasn't long before a full musical cast list was assembled with a sample of each one's music. This video was put together and uploaded by the YouTube channel Peopipeo^[2] on March 7th, 2022, a full two weeks before the live premiere of the first round in late March, earning 43,000 views in two weeks (shown below).
