Part of a series on FromSoftware. [View Related Entries]

About

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon (sometimes stylized as Armored Core 6) is an upcoming action video game developed by FromSoftware in the Armored Core franchise. The game generated significant hype ahead of its release, particularly due to FromSoftware's successes with the Souls series and Elden Ring.

History

Armored Core VI will be FromSoftware's first Armored Core game since Armored Core V, released in 2013. In September 2016, Hitedaka Miyazaki mentioned in an interview that a new Armored Core game was in development.[1] The game was formally announced at the 2022 Game Awards (shown below).

Like other games in the series, Armored Core 6 will focus on mech combat and have designed, singular levels, as opposed to the open worlds of Souls games.[2] On April 27th, Bandai Namco released a gameplay trailer for the game (shown below). It will release on August 25th, 2023.

Online Presence

Hype for the game began spreading significantly around June of 2023, when multiple media outlets offered impressions from early playtests of the game.[3] IGN[4] was effusive in its praise of the demo it played, though they noted it will likely appeal to fans of Armored Core and not necessarily convert Souls fans. Eurogamer[5] praised the fluidity of the controls and appreciated how the level rewarded player ingenuity.

On July 25th, 2023, VaatiVidya posted his impressions of an Armored Core 6 demo he'd played, highly praising the game. The video gained over 1.3 million views in two days (shown below, left). The same day, Iron Pineapple praised the game, but echoed warnings that those looking for a Souls-like experience would be disappointed. The video gained over 679,000 views in two days (shown below, right).
