The earliest instance of the sound being used on TikTok dates back to April 2nd, 2026, when TikTok^[1] user @yup.bro.beatz uploaded a video featuring the remix, which was mostly negatively received. In the upload, @yup.bro.beatz refers to the song as the "elvis presley minimal tech edit." The post accumulated over 312,500 views, 31,100 likes and 370 comments in less than two weeks.

A day later, TikToker^[10] @yup.bro.beatz posted a POV meme referencing TikTok "going crazy" for the Elvis Presley edit, garnering over 35,900 likes and 550 comments in 10 days.

Spread

Over the following days, the remix of the Elvis Presley song edit began to spread on TikTok as the audio started seeing early usage in memes and other posts heading into mid-April 2026.

On April 9th, 2026, TikTok user^[2] @iheartitsreal posted a video featuring the remix, captioned, "lads I've only gone and found the song of the summer," accompanied by Elvis Presley caricatures. The video received 278,400 views and 45,600 likes in about four days.

The same day, TikTok ^[3] user @netkilrblx used the audio in a video featuring an Elvis Presley Roblox avatar. The video received 402,600 views and 53,900 likes in about four days.

The audio spread quickly across the platform in the following days. For example, on April 10th, 2026, TikTok^[4] user @ohioshocktv posted a video featuring the audio alongside Mandarin Chinese text-to-speech and a caricature of Elvis Presley against a red backdrop of Chinese text and horses running. The video received over 1.1 million views and 182,200 likes in just three days.

The caricature of Elvis used in @ohioshocktv's meme, and many others within the trend, was originally created by Thailand-based artist eakart.^[11]

On April 11th, 2026, TikTok^[5] user @pleometric began uploading AI-generated videos utilizing the Hound Dog remix. The first of which, featuring an AI Elvis in the style of the previous hand-drawn caricatures and dancing dogs in Elvis outfits, received over 2.6 million views and 292,700 likes in just two days.

The same day, @pleometric posted^[6] a second video, this time featuring a fat Elvis variant accompanied by dancing hot dogs. The post received about 1.4 million views and 176,500 likes in just two days.

At the same time, TikTok users began editing the song into actual archival footage of Elvis Presley.

For instance, on April 11th, 2026, TikTok^[7] user @numberonetartshagger uploaded a video showcasing the evolution of "Hound Dog," which was originally written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller and first performed by Big Mama Thornton, before ending on the House music remix. The video received 1.6 million views and 226,400 likes in two days.

The same day, TikTok^[8] user @lalienz_ uploaded a similar video, this time using footage from a 1956 performance of "Hound Dog" on The Ed Sullivan Show, humorously dated to 1845. The video received about 898,500 views and 126,700 likes in two days.

On April 12th, 2026, TikTok user^[9] @pleometric once again posted an AI-generated video using the "Hound Dog" remix, this time featuring Tung Tung Tung Sahur as Elvis and IShowSpeed as the Elvis-clad dancers. The video received about 873,300 views and 129,800 likes in just one day.
