About
The Kagerou Project (lit. Heat Haze Project) is a series of Vocaloid music videos, novels, and manga created by Vocaloid producer Shizen no Teki-P, a.k.a. Jin.
The project tells the story of a group of youths known as the Mekakushi Dan, who each have an eye-related power tied to the snakes in the hair of a Medusa-like woman named Azami. The overarching story follows two paths: Route 1, the true ending, and Route XX, the bad ending.
History
On May 30, 2012, Shizen no Teki-P (Jin) released the first song in the series, "Jinzou Enemy" to the Japanese video sharing site Nico Nico Douga where it became the third most viewed video on the site. However, the project didn't truly take off until the third song in the series, "Kagerou Days" which remains Jin's most popular song to this day. There are currently 22 songs, 5 novels and a 20 chapter manga that is still in production. An anime adaptation called "Mekakucity Actors" will premiere on April 11th/12th, 2014 on Nico Nico Douga.
