About
Megalo Box is a 2018 science fiction boxing anime series created in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Ashita No Joe manga and functions as a retelling of Ashita No Joe's storyline. The anime is centered around a down-on-his-luck underground boxer nicknamed "Junk Dog" who is suddenly thrust into the Megalo Box in the hopes of coming face to face with the top ranking Megalo Boxer Yuri. The series has been praised for its characters and visual callbacks to the anime styles of the 90's and early 2000's, particularly those of series like Trigun, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo.
