About

Pingu refers to a British-Swiss stop-motion T.V. show aimed at children featuring penguins made from clay. The show was made to teach children basic lessons, like getting organized, table manners, how to cook, etc. The show is most famous for Pingu's "Noot Noot" which was made popular on the internet with numerous remixes on youtube.

Premise

Pingu follows a young penguin named Pingu and his life growing up on the north pole, as well as the lessons he learns.

History

Pingu made his earliest appearance in a 1980 short film called "Hugo" where he encounters a polar bear.



In 1986 about six years after the short. The first pilot of Pingu was made. Notable things were different such as Pingu's famous "Noot Noot" sound being a kazoo instead.



Reception

Pingu is generally highly rated. IMDb and rated the series a positive rating of 7.4/10[1], as did TV.com[2]. Common Sense Media also gave it a positive 4/5 stars[3].

Noot Noot

Noot Noot are words commonly spoken by Pingu throughout the series. Due to its frequent usage, it spawned several image macros and remixes set to music.
