About

Sid the Science Kid was an animated educational children's television show which ran between 2008 and 2013. It has appeared in numerous remix memes which generally mix footage of the show with more adult content.

History

Sid the Science Kid was created by the Jim Henson Company and was written by Bradley Zweig.[1] The show stars Sid and each episode revolves around him and his friends investigating a question about the world, i.e., "How do juice straws work?" The show launched September 1st, 2008 and ran until March 25th, 2013,[2] the same day a movie, Sid the Science Kid: The Movie premiered (episode shown below).

Online Presence

Online the show is most notably used in remixes which tend to pair footage with adult content. For example, YouTube user CheekiiChaps posted an MLG parody of Sid footage on April 11th, 2015, gaining over 2.5 million views (shown below, left). The user went on to make four more, similar videos, each gaining hundreds of thousands of views. On December 5th, 2016, YouTuber cooldude1999 posted a remix of Sid footage with Bad and Boujee, gaining over 4.2 million views (shown below, right).

Like the "Bad and Boujee" parody, many other Sid the Science Kid parodies used footage from a song on the show called "I'm looking for my friends" (shown below).
