On May 4th, 2026, artist Nick Vost posted a comic to his X^[1] account @foolibuster that gained over 208,000 likes and 20,000 reposts in about two weeks. The comic begins with Batman trying to get Commissioner Gordon's attention. In the second panel, Gordon is seen smoking a cigar. In the final panel, Batman is seen holding up his phone and saying, "Nahhh wait you look tuff I'm taking a photo."

On May 9th, X^[2] user @evilgnomehacker posted an edit of the meme that replaces the original characters in the comic with characters from the video game Deadlock, gaining about 65 likes. This is the earliest known edit of the image.

On May 14th, 2026, Redditor The_Piggy_Plane posted another version of the meme that depicts the characters as characters from Deadlock to the /r/Deadlock^[3] subreddit, gaining over 1,500 upvotes in a week.

On May 21st, X^[4] user and artist @ItsKerius posted a redraw of the comic that replaces the Batman characters with characters from the video game series Metal Gear, garnering over 17,000 likes in a day.

The meme was then reposted to the /r/metalgearsolid^[5] subreddit the next day, gaining over 620 upvotes in under a day.

The format started to see an increase in redraws on May 22nd, 2026, with several X^[6][7][8] users posting examples referencing games like Nine Sols and Stalker.
