About

So Sorry is an animated Indian political cartoon series by the India Today group. The series largely consists of slapstick cartoons starring caricatures of Indian public figures or world leaders, with the main protagonist usually being India's current prime minister, Narendra Modi, which led some to criticize the cartoon as pro-Indian propaganda for this reason. Since early-mid 2020, sped-up episodes from the series mashed up to UNRAVEL and other songs have become popular as shitposts on sites such as YouTube and Twitter due to their bizarre and overdramatic nature and have received especially major popularity since early December 2020 under the title "Shitpost Status."

History

On September 26th, 2013, So Sorry published their first video on YouTube. The video, "SoSo Sorry, welcome to the 2013 Wrestling Session," received more than 27,000 views in less than eight years (shown below).

That day, the company released "So Sorry: India v/s Pakistan _Story inside." Within eight years, the video received more than 875,000 views in less than eight years. The following, the account published " 'Bhartiya Jurassic Park' vs Congress," which received more than 8.3 million views in less than eight years (shown below, right).

Unravel Remixes

On February 19th, 2018, SoSorry published "Pakistan Ko Muh Tod Jawab." The video satirizes the Indo-Pakistan border conflict and features Indian defense minister Rajnath Singh being called out by Modi, prompting him to launch an ineffective missile strike against some Pakistani terrorists. In one scene from the episode, in response to Modi's angry call, Singh transforms into a tank, drives to the Indo-Pakistan border, and launches a "good retort" over it. However, Modi and Indian citizens are still angry, prompting Singh to transform into a plane and launch missiles labeled "tirade" at terrorists, which proceed to dump harmless pieces of paper labeled "drastic measures" over them, leading to more frustration by Modi. Within three years, the video received more than 15 million views (shown below, left).

On April 22nd, 2020, YouTuber Homeless Vines posted a video remix of the video with the song UNRAVEL. The video, "Indian Dude Transforms Into a Fucking TANK!!," received more than 180,000 views in less than one year (shown below, right).

Throughout 2020, other So Sorry videos were subjects of UNRAVEL remixes. On October 7th, YouTuber realistic king crimson reposted a remix of the So Sorry video, "Gusse Me Laal Jinping Behaal"[1] in which "UNRAVEL" replaced the soundtrack (shown below). The video received more than 37,000 views in less than three months (shown below).
