The Lego Batman Movie is a 2017 computer animated comedy film and spin-off of the 2014 film The Lego Movie, featuring a variation of the DC Comics' super hero Batman. The film is scheduled to be released on February 10th, 2017.

History

On October 10th 2014, Hollywood Reporter posted a story about plans for Warner Brothers to partner with LEGO to produce a spin off of The Lego Movie starring DC Comics Superhero, Batman. [2] Will Arnett, who voiced Batman in the original Lego movie, would be reprising the role for this film. On July 23rd, 2016, an official trailer for the film was released (shown below).



Online Presence

In December 2015, the @LegoBatmanMovie[7] Twitter feed was launched, which gained over 20,000 followers in the next two years. On March 22nd, 2016, The LEGO Batman Movie Facebook[5] page was created, garnering upwards of 234,000 likes over the next year. On September 22nd, the /r/TheLegoBatmanMovie[6] subreddit was launched.

On You Tube

On June 10th, 2016, YouTuber FK Films uploaded a "Lego Batman Parody" video, gaining over 7.4 million views and 1,000 comments over the next seven months (shown below, left). On October 14th, another Lego Batman Movie parody was uploaded by the Epic Toy Channel YouTube channel (shown below, right).



On January 13th, 2017, the If You Build It YouTube channel released a stop motion animation video titled "Lego Batman Movie Arcade Video Game" (shown below, left). On January 23rd, YouTuber VariantComics uploaded an "unboxing": video featuring a Lego Batman Movie-themed Lego set (shown below, right).
