About

Yoshihiro Togashi's Twitter Account refers to a once mysterious Twitter account that was later confirmed to be the author of the popular manga Hunter x Hunter, Yoshihiro Togashi, who had been absent from the internet and the series for years due to health issues. The account @Un4v5s8bgsVk9Xp was identified in May 2022 and has been posting updates on the development of new chapters of the manga.

Origin

On May 24th, 2022, the account @Un4v5s8bgsVk9Xp was created on Twitter,[1] alleging to be the creator of the manga Hunter x Hunter, Yoshihiro Togashi. The profile had only one post with a picture of a drawing table with sketches and the caption in Japanese "4 more episodes for now." The tweet has 1.2 million likes and 510 retweets in five months.

The rumor that the account was Togashi was confirmed to be true by the creator of the manga One-Punch Man, Yusuke Murata[2], on a tweet replying to Togashi's viral post.

Spread

Once it was confirmed that the account belonged to Togashi, he began posting regular updates about the development of new chapters of the manga Hunter x Hunter while fans flooded his mentions with happy memes after almost four years since the manga had stopped releasing new chapters in November 2018, due to Togashi's health issues (example shown below).[3]

The news made its way to other social media platforms. For example, TikTok user @illuniinii made a video showing how the Japanese dubs of the main characters of the anime adaptation of Hunter x Hunter reacted to the author's comeback. The video, uploaded on May 24th, 2022, has accumulated 1.8 million views and 422.000 likes in five months.
