Origin

On June 28th, 2021, during the round-of-16 match between France and Switzerland at the 2020 Euros, Switzerland overcame a two-goal second-half deficit to tie the game in the last minute of regulation. At the 87th minute, late in the second half, ESPN's camera caught a Swiss fan in agony over his team. The Swiss were able to score in the 90th minute to tie the game and force extra time. The camera caught the same fan in the celebration shirtless and screaming in triumph. Switzerland went on to win the game after penalty kicks. The side-by-side comparison of the Swiss fan was posted by multiple Twitter users, including @timolsky,^[1] who gained over 2,900 retweets and 17,000 likes (shown below).
