About

Takeshi Loves Sex refers to a viral video in which a Japanese guy is screaming on a road about how much he wants sex and intends to "become sex." The video was remixed numerous times by internet users in late 2020, becoming an exploitable meme and copypasta over the following months.

Origin

On November 6th, 2020, a Japanese internet user Fumiin (ふみ~ん) posted a video to both his Twitter[1] and YouTube, which was titled "I Tried! Becoming Sex! Showily!" (ド派手に!セックスに!なってみた!).[2] In the video, he screams "Sex!" while chasing a car in a tunnel on a bicycle. He also seems to have a dialogue with himself, voicing both the sex-crazed "Takeshi" and referring to himself in the third person, warning against becoming sex. According to Wayback Machine, that now-defunct tweet had earned over 10,000 retweets and 26,000 likes within its first month. Fumiiin posted several similar videos in which he screams "Sex!" in a tunnel in February[3][4] and December of 2019.[5]

Spread

In response to Fumiin's video, Twitter users made parodies by adding anime songs in the background. His remarks also became a copypasta on Twitter.[6] For example, user @3vaXuzqP0tm0Flw posted an edit using Kamen Rider music, gaining over 350 retweets and 620 likes (shown below, top). User @zombiematsomuto posted a remix featuring Satoshi Son Goku, gaining over 60 likes (shown below, bottom).

On YouTube and Reddit, some Western users had noticed the video in December of that year.[7][8]
