Tax Time :) is a viral video made by TikTok and YouTube user @flappetapcc, aka Philip Kraaijenhof. The video, posted in April 2023, depicts a chat between the IRS and the user, the IRS beginning by saying "tax time!" in a high-pitched girl's voice. The audio became a popular source for videos on TikTok and YouTube in the following weeks.

Origin

The "Tax Time" video was posted by TikToker^[1] @flappetapcc on April 7th, 2023. The video shows a text chat between the IRS and themselves, with the IRS having a cute girl voice by Twitter^[2] user FoxyGalactic.The video (shown below) received over 2 million views and over 515,000 likes in one month. It was also posted to his YouTube^[3] channel, where it received over 32,000 views in over a month. It was also posted to his Twitter^[4] account.

Spread

Fan videos using the voice lines quickly found their way onto TikTok and YouTube. On April 15th, 2023, TikToker^[5] @exgamingstream_vr posted a video using the voice lines along with furry avatars in VRChat. The video (shown below, left) received over 285,000 views and over 48,000 likes in over three weeks. On April 22nd, TikToker^[6] @francisthesilly posted a short animation using the voice lines along with cat characters, garnering over 1.1 million views and 276,000 likes in over two weeks (shown below, right).

On April 25th, YouTuber^[7] Araara posted an animated video using the voice lines along with Mari from the videogame Omori, receiving over 15,000 views in over two weeks (shown below, left) . On May 5th, YouTuber^[8] Ncs Artist posted an animated video using the voice lines along with a large catface character, garnering over 257,000 views in over four days (shown below, right). The video was originally posted to their Twitter^[9] account on May 1st, where it received over 32,000 likes and over 5,300 retweets in over one week.
