This Fanfic Shit Easy is a catchphrase used in a series of ironic memes in which a person shares a purposefully badly written or corny line of dialogue that might appear in a piece of fan fiction, painting the line as skillful. The trend began in August 2025 when X / Twitter user @markamatony shared an example of the meme about Pope John, followed shortly by a Hannibal version by X user @s_chainsaw that garnered virality. The trend went viral over the following months as it spread online.

Origin

On August 8th, 2025, X^[1] user @markamatony posted, "this fanfiction shit easy as hell." An attached screenshot shows a note depicting a fake fanfiction segment where Pope John says he will take his own life, and Vincent makes a sexual remark in response. The post gained over 5,400 likes in four months.

Spread

On August 10th, 2025, X^[2] user @s_chainsaw posted a screenshot of a note that they wrote depicting a scene in a non-existent Hannibal fanfiction. The post reads, "this fanfic shit easy as hell" and the screenshot features dialogue between Will Graham and Hannibal, where Will says, "I will kill you!" and Hannibal responds by making a sexual remark towards Will. The post gained over 96,000 likes and 8,400 reposts in four months.

On September 22nd, Tumblr^[3] user minecr-afton posted a version of the meme using a similar caption about William Afton from Five Nights at Freddy's, garnering over 31,100 Notes in three months.

On December 4th, 2025, X^[4] user @imagesaicouldnt reposted a screenshot of the post, garnering over 100,000 likes in about two weeks.

On December 11th, X^[5] user @sproutcells posted a version of the meme referencing the anime series Naruto that garnered over 91,000 likes in four days.
