The photo was first posted by Mayweather to his Instagram in 2014 before it was turned into an image macro format in 2020, typically used by recaptioning the original "this is me if being retarded was a job" text with other jobs or actions.

Origin

On September 26th, 2014, Floyd Mayweather took to his Instagram^[1] to post a picture of him listening to something with his earphones as he looks at his phone. Closer to the camera on the bed in front of him lies a pile of stacked cash. The upload was captioned, "Help me out with a caption," and gathered over 200,000 likes in over eight years (seen below).

On October 1st, 2020, Instagram^[2] page @damnthatsgroovy became the earliest known person to create a template for the image macro meme, with a text overlay on the image reading, "This is me if being retarded was a job." The post gathered over 1,000 likes in over two years (seen below).
