About
Toosie Slide is a dance first introduced on TikTok set to a leaked Drake single by the same name featuring Ayo & Teo. The dance became popular on TikTok in March 2020 and involves following the lyrics' directions of "It go right foot up, left foot, slide Left foot up, right foot, slide."
Origin
On March 29th, 2020, TikTokers and musical duo @officialayoteo uploaded a video of themselves dancing the Toosie Slide and introducing a clip of the song's audio (shown below). The video gained over 5,500 likes in two days.

Spread
On March 30th, TikTokers began uploading their #toosieslidechallenge videos. TikToker @FOX46Nick and @yvnggprince uploaded dance videos which garnered over 1,700 likes and 700 likes respectively in a day (shown below).

That same day, Drake confirmed that the full song would be released on Thursday in an Instagram[2] post that accumulated over 706,900 likes in a day (shown below, left). Twitter user @champagneadele_[3] referenced the dance when tweeting, "I got Tootsie Slide practice at 3:30" (shown below, right). The Daily Dot[1] published an article on the dance.
