Tortilla Wrap Hack refers to a method of folding a tortilla by quarters to create a triangular food pocket. To create the wrap, make a slit going from the center toward the outer rim of the wrap. Then add each filling element to their own respective quarter of the tortilla and fold the quarters over one another one at a time in a circular fashion. The method inspired a series of TikTok videos in January 2020 of people sharing and attempting to recreate the wrap.

Origin

On December 30th, 2020, TikToker^[1] @cookingwithayeh shared the earliest known example of the hack. The TikToker captioned the video, "revolution lunch wrap!" The post received more than 5 million views, 933,000 reactions and 3,800 comments in less than one month (shown below).

Spread

the following day, TikToker @ellcart1 shared a breakfast variation of the hack that received more than 6 million views, 576,000 reactions and 3,700 comments in less than one month.

Following the post, people began sharing variations of the wrap, adding different ingredients for different meals, such as breakfast wraps (example below, right).

As of January 11th, 2020, the hashtag #TortillaTrend^[2] has more than 2 billion views.

Several media outlets covered the trend, including Yahoo,^[3] People,^[4] Dextero,^[5] BuzzFeed ^[6] and more.
