About
Trojan Horse Chuu refers to a series of photoshopped images that include a red arrow pointing at a seemingly random area with a circled picture of Chuu from K-pop girl group LOONA in it, mimicking YouTube clickbait thumbnails.
Origin
On September 26th, 2020, Twitter user @hwmhm[1] posted an image showing a picture of a Trojan horse with a red arrow pointed at its head and a concept photo of Chuu from LOONA's first album "++" being used in the circle (shown below). While many expressed confusion over the meme's meaning, some Twitter users[2] theorized that the idea of the meme is that prior to getting into LOONA, many fans will become fans of Chuu, only to later become LOONA stans. The post gained over 11,000 likes and 2,000 retweets in over a year.
Spread
The post didn't become a meme until over a year later, when on November 16th, 2021, Brazilian LOONA stan account @loonapostagem[3] created their own version, in which Chuu was pointed at Marvel villain 'Lizard' in the trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home. The tweet gained over 11,000 likes and 2,000 retweets (shown below).
From there, other Twitter users began to insert the image of Chuu into seemingly random images. On December 19th, 2021, Twitter user @sscsyj[4] posted a parody which put Chuu on the cover of Aespa's Savage mini-album as a means to parody how Chuu was one of the most popular idols in K-pop alongside the four Aespa members. The post gained over 8,000 likes and 2,000 retweets (shown below).
