Ultraman's "My Favorite"

My Favorite, also known as Ultraman Inhaling Green Gas, is a reaction image in which the DC comics character Ultraman (an evil alternate-universe version of Superman) breathes in kryptonite gas, which has a beneficial effect on him, commenting that it is "his favorite." Starting in late 2022, the panel has been used online as a Brap meme for the purposes of hornyposting.

Origin

On July 6th, 2021, issue five of volume seven of the Suicide Squad comic book series was released.^[1] In the volume, the character Bloodsport attempts to use kryptonite against Ultraman, an evil version of Superman from Earth-3. However, kryptonite has a beneficial effect on Ultraman, with him commenting "…My favorite." as he breathes in kryptonite gas (panels shown below).

On October 29th, 2022, X^[2] user @Massive_Peace posted the panels, commenting, "James Gunn's Superman." The post received over 100 retweets and 2,000 likes in one year, with several users replying with jokes about Ultraman smelling farts in the panel.^[3][4]

On November 13th, 2022, X^[5] user @tize4PF made the earliest discovered use of the panel as a reaction image, although earlier instances of its usage are likely to exist. The post (shown below) received over 250 likes in one year.

Spread

On January 7th, 2023, the X account @reactjpg notably archived the reaction image.^[6]

Through 2023, the image experienced frequent use online, primarily on X, being used to make brap jokes and to hornypost. For example, on February 16th, 2023, X^[7] user @FinestLTaker used the image to react to a post about Deathbed Smalls from Elden Ring, gaining over 20 reposts and 820 likes in nine months (shown below, left).

On September 25th, X^[8] user @HoesLuvTravis made a hornypost that garnered over 280 likes on the platform in two months (shown below, right).

Additionally, the image has been used as source material for redraws. For example, on October 16th, 2023, X^[9] user @banishedfished posted a Megatron redraw that received over 2,600 reposts and 14,000 likes in two weeks.
