About
The Brap Sound Effect, also known as the Brap Noise or Brap Sound, refers to a fart noise from a video of a woman flatulating. It gained popularity in 2016 after it was edited into a video of a woman cosplaying as Overwatch character d.va twerking after saying "Nerf This!" Beginning in late 2019, the "Nerf This!" video was referenced in many high-quality rips on the SiIvaGunner channel. The brap noise also became a popular sound effect in 21st-Century Humor videos in early-to-mid-2020.
Origin
The "brap" sound originates from a video uploaded on December 3rd, 2013, by YouTuber[1] el_pinche_wero_korndog, titled "big butt woman farts." At 0:16 in the video, a woman laying on a bed farts (shown below), which is the sound effect used in memes. One commenter described the sound as "… a mix of shuffling a deck of cards and squirting mustard from a near-empty bottle."[2] The video has since received over 1 million views, 8,500 likes and 1,500 comments in roughly seven years.
