On October 17th, 2024, TikTok^[1] user @percnemesis uploaded the earliest known mention of the "urinal bandit" meme, adding a promotional photo of the American crime drama television series Dexter's protagonist, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), who is a criminal expert with the Miami-Metro Police Department and also a vigilante serial killer known as "Bay Harbor Butcher." In the post (seen below), he added the text "how it feels to be most hardworking quiet student in class asking to go to the bathroom just to secretly piss all over the walls and floor purely for fun." The post (seen below) amassed over 1 million plays and 398,000 likes in a week.

Memes and comedy skits expanding the lore of the "urinal bandit" grew popular in mid-October 2024 on TikTok. For instance, on October 22nd, 2024, TikTok^[2] user @spinningpuppies posted a video pretending to be Dexter's rival James Doakes caught the urinal bandit smearing feces "on the walls and pooping in the urinal." The video (seen below) received over 2.3 million plays and 575,000 likes in a day.

On the same day, TikTok^[3] user @loopmonk__ posted a scene from the Dexter series with a POV text about a teacher suspecting "you of being the Urinal shitter." The video (seen below) garnered roughly 762,000 plays and 171,000 likes in a day.
