Origin

According to Genius,^[1] the earliest song produced by F1lthy is "Diamond Rings" by Zubin, released in 2017. The producer tag, a female voice saying "wake up F1lthy," can be heard at the start of the track (shown below).

Spread

The tag became the subject of memes throughout the 2020s. On January 14th, 2021, Redditor summertimesad_ness posted a video where two babies open their mouths as the tag plays to /r/playboicarti,^[2] gaining over 600 upvotes in a year (shown below).

On October 10th, YouTuber^[3] 070alexi posted an edit of a The Big Bang Theory clip using the tag, gaining over 25,000 views in seven months (shown below).

On March 18th, 2022, TikToker^[4] @aceb posted a video consisting of the opening of Playboi Carti's song "New Tank" followed by the tag. The original sound^[5] inspired over 25,000 videos in two months, the majority of the videos consisting of users showing off their tattoos using a negative filter (examples shown below, left and right).

On April 2nd, YouTuber^[6] JulianH06 posted a meme using the sound over edited SpongeBob SquarePants clips, gaining over 368,000 views in a month (shown below).
