About
Way To Go Squidward. You Ruined His Favorite Fucking Holiday For Him refers to a viral video of a guy who poorly greenscreened himself into an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants to confront Squidward for being mean to SpongeBob. The guy, seen wearing a baja hoodie (aka "drug rug") and long, curly hair, speaks on a kiss that he and Squidward shared, saying, "When we kissed that night, I thought there was magic. Now, I wish we never even did it." The video's creator is Instagram user @garbanzo_meatball (aka Nass) and it was posted in late 2023. The video spread to other platforms like Twitter / X and TikTok going into 2024, earning references and discourse. Nass posted more greenscreen videos with similar cartoon self-insert confrontations, ranging from King of the Hill to Smiling Friends.
Origin
On September 2nd, 2023, Instagram[1] user @garbanzo_meatball (aka Nass and formerly @nass_is_openly_a_pikmin) posted a video in which he greenscreened himself into a scene from season 1, episode 19a of SponegeBob SquarePants titled "Fools In April"[2] in which Squidward intensely pranks SpongeBob in the Krusty Krab causing SpongeBob to run out crying while Squidward says to the fish around him, "I was just kidding. Come on, come on, you guys know I was just kidding, right?"
Nass enters the scene and confronts Squidward, saying, "Way to go Squidward. You ruined his favorite fucking holiday for him." Later, he says, "When we kissed that night, I thought there was magic. Now, I wish we never even did it," before walking off-screen. Over eight months, the Reel received roughly 3,600 likes (shown below).
Way to go Squidward. You ruined his favorite fucking holiday for him. And for what? 'Cause he fucking bothered you, at work? I thought you were fucking different. When we kissed that night, I thought there was magic. Now, I wish we never even did it. And I wish we didn't do that other stuff either, even though at the time it felt really right. And I've been thinkin' about it a lot. Now I wish we didn't do it. Jerk.
