"We Require More Minerals" is a memorable quote featured in Blizzard's real time strategy video game Starcraft to notify that the player does not have sufficient resources to complete the consturction of a unit or building. Due to its frequent appearance during gameplay, the quote has inspired a series of image macros and parodies in a similar vein to the quote "You Must Construct Additional Pylons".

Origin

The quote in verbatim, "we require more minerals," is attributed to the Overmind, the leader of the Zerg race, and can be heard when the player tries to construct a unit or building without a sufficient stockpile of minerals, one of the two basic resources that can be mined. Similar variations of the quote can be heard when playing as the Terran ("Not enough minerals") and Protoss ("You've not enough minerals") races.

Online, one of the earliest references to the catchphrase can be found on a image macro featuring Isopods and a bag of Doritos, uploaded for first time to the media sharing page Memerial^[2] in August 2010 (shown below, left). The catchphrase remained dormant until April 2012, when the webcomic The Oatmeal uploaded a strip making reference to the quote, by comparing North Korea and South Korea.^[1] World of Warcraft features a small quest that features this quote as the title of it.^[5]

On October 13th, 2012, YouTuber j3googs uploaded a video titled "We require more minerals!", featuring a person imitating the quote.
